About the event
Braid Basics for Dads is a relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop designed to help dads and father figures feel more confident doing their child’s hair.
If you have ever wanted to do more than a quick brush and ponytail but did not know where to start, this session is for you. You will be guided through the basics in a practical, supportive way, with plenty of hands-on help throughout.
At Mamas That Braid, we believe hair care is about more than appearance. It is about bonding, confidence, pride, and showing up for your child in meaningful everyday ways. This workshop creates a welcoming space for dads to learn useful skills they can take home and use again and again.
During your session, you will learn:
How to part and section the hair more neatly and confidently
Simple ponytail styles and braided ponytails
Beginner braid basics, including hand positioning and technique
Foundational plaiting skills to help you build control and confidence
Practical tips to make hair time easier, smoother, and more enjoyable at home
Your workshop experience includes:
A 2-hour in-person teaching session
Hands-on practice with a professional training doll
Live demonstrations from Tara, founder of Mamas That Braid
Personalised guidance and individual support throughout
A small-group setting for a focused, comfortable learning experience
This workshop is ideal for dads who want to feel more involved, more capable, and more confident when it comes to caring for their child’s hair. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to learn.
Spaces are limited to make sure each guest gets the support, encouragement, and attention they need.
