Founder Story
Hello! I’m Tara, the founder of Mamas That Braid and a proud mama who braids. Growing up in East London, I loved creating cornrows for friends during playtime. As a parent, I found joy in styling my daughter’s hair and helping other mums who felt overwhelmed . What began as a hobby has become my mission: to empower families and communities to care for and celebrate hair through braiding.
Why We Do It:
Parents often tell me they feel lost with their child’s hair. They want easier mornings, happier kids and the confidence to create styles their children love. Hair can also carry cultural significance and identity. I created Mamas That Braid to provide a warm, inclusive space where everyone—from dads to teens, from schools to foster carers—can learn, connect and celebrate. Every braid tells a story; let’s write yours together.
